How to Make Tomato Sauce in a Mixer Grinder
Tomato sauce is easy to prepare at home using a mixer grinder. This quick recipe makes a smooth, flavorful sauce that can be served with snacks or used in sandwiches, burgers, and pasta.
Ingredients
1 kg ripe tomatoes
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon red chili powder (optional)
½ teaspoon black pepper powder
1 teaspoon garlic (optional)
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1 tablespoon cornflour (optional, for a thicker sauce)
2 tablespoons water (to mix with cornflour)
Instructions
Step 1: Boil the Tomatoes
Wash the tomatoes and cut them into quarters. Boil them in a pan for 10–15 minutes until they become soft.
Step 2: Blend
Allow the tomatoes to cool slightly. Transfer them to a mixer grinder and blend until smooth.
Step 3: Strain
Pour the blended tomatoes through a fine sieve to remove the skins and seeds. This gives the sauce a smooth texture.
Step 4: Cook the Sauce
Pour the strained tomato puree into a pan. Add sugar, salt, black pepper, red chili powder, and garlic (if using). Cook over medium heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 5: Thicken (Optional)
Mix the cornflour with 2 tablespoons of water until smooth. Add it to the sauce and cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Step 6: Add Vinegar
Stir in the vinegar and cook for another 2 minutes. Turn off the heat and let the sauce cool completely.
Step 7: Store
Pour the cooled tomato sauce into a clean, dry glass bottle. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 2–3 weeks.
Tips
Use fully ripe, red tomatoes for the best color and flavor.
Adjust the sugar and salt according to your taste.
Vinegar helps preserve the sauce and gives it a tangy flavor.
